Go Dance Academy

Modern Theatre

Modern Theatre dance is usually seen on the stages of musical productions and is known for its theatricality. The style uses travelling steps, high kicks, leaps and turns which all need strength and flexibility. This is a highly energetic dance style.

Tap Dance

Tap dance is characterised by using the sounds of tap shoes striking the floor rhythmically as a form of percussion. Tap has evolved as an American dance form, popularised throughout the world, with debate about its origins coming from African dance, Irish dance and/or clog dancing. Tap dance is a theatrical art form often seen on stage in musicals.

Ballet Dance

The roots of Imperial Classical Ballet stem from the early days of the ISTD and the first written syllabus in 1913 which was based on the teaching of the French School from the Paris Opéra. The syllabus has now evolved to promote the English classical style and address the changing needs of Ballet dancers today.

ISTD Examinations

The Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (ISTD) is one of the world’s leading dance examination boards. The GO Dance Academy proudly enter students for examinations yearly. The graded examinations are recognised by Ofqual. Attaining an Intermediate Certificate (effectively Grade 8) provided the student with a Level 3 Qualification.

Go Dance Academy Students perform at least once a year. Recent performances Include St Davids Hall, Cardiff and the Riverfront Theatre in Newport.
